SAFILEUP Multiple File Upload Code This Add-On contains all the files you need to allow users to upload more than one picture at a time via the their web browser. Users can selectively pick and choose which pictures for an album to upload. They can theoretically upload as many or as few as they want. Users can come back to the screen shown below at any time to continue uploading. You have the option to make this feature available for the Admin Users, the Regular Users, or both. This only works if you are using the Softartisans SAFileUp Component for file uploading. This is just some files you copy into the application. See screenshot ![]() This is an unsupported download. This feature is not incorporated into the base product because in my opinion it is somewhat risky. Letting users upload multiple files at once means a lot of extra load on the server... etc etc. Especially if the user tries to upload a lot of large files sizes at once. Though this usually worked fine in my testing it did sometimes cause odd behavior when used over & over on the same album. Use this add-on with great care and be sure to test it extensively. You'll want to run this only on a fast server with adequate resources available. It is a very cool add-on if the people using it do not abuse it. You may want to limit the max amount of uploads to 10 or so, but this way this comes they can upload up to 100 at once. Download Now You may ask. How I can upload more than one file at a time without picking each one individually ? Is it possible ? For the most part it isn't possible. At least not without making the user load a special java applet. There might be a way under normal circumstances, but I haven't found it yet. I am always looking however. You see, file inputs can only handle a single file at a time, at least in most browsers (I think I remember hearing something about some being able to select multiple files, but I could be mistaken). To allow users to upload multiple files you must either provide multiple file inputs or replace the file input with a custom client, such as a Java Applet (which would need to be properly signed so it has security privileges to allow it access to the users hard disk). Below are links to 2 such applets, but as you can see if you want the cool features you need to spend some serious cash. http://fileup.softartisans.com/default.aspx?PageID=123 http://www.aspupload.com/jupload.html Not only do you need to buy one of these applets, but you also need to be running the respective upload component each company sells as well since they work together. |
